Users creating Inventory Plans have the option of including inventory from outside of the selected market(s) via the "Include Inventory Outside of Markets within Market Summaries" checkbox
In the new Workspace, this is found in the Parameters menu of an Inventory Plan
The default setting for this button is deselected so that only the inventory that exists within the selected market(s) is represented in the Inventory Plan. With the button selected, inventory from outside of the market can also be included
An important factor in pulling data from markets where inventory doesn't exist is the "Select Market Type to Auto-Assign Inventory’s Market" popup:
Whenever specific inventory is selected, the system needs to know if the selected market(s) needs to be reassigned when pulling measures for the inventory. If the user hasn't selected a market yet, they can choose to filter at the DMA, CBSA, or County level and add those markets as a group or run them individually
If the user has already assigned their market(s), they can choose to cancel the auto-assign which prevents the system from over-riding their market selection
Use Case: One Audience, Two Markets
The instance where a user will find the most value in the Include Inventory Outside of Markets checkbox is with multiple markets
In the example of an Inventory Plan with multiple markets, the Include Inventory Outside of Market checkbox will affect the plan in different ways
In this example, we have Persons 18+ yrs for the audience (using the 2021 data source), the markets are Bronx and New York counties, the location filter has been set to those counties as well, and the inventory has been entered with Spot IDs:
We choose to cancel the Auto-Assign because we want to see measures for these spots against Persons 18+ in Bronx County as well as New York County
With the Include Inventory Outside of Markets within Market Summaries checkbox selected, both markets have measures and data pulled for their plans even though these 10 spots physically exist in New York county:
With the Include Inventory Outside of Markets within Market Summaries checkbox deselected, only New York County will show measures while the package for Bronx County will show 0 and "No Inventory to Display":
